Fellow Michigan landlords have the "Detroit Motor City Madman" Ted Nugent, himself as a Purple Martin Landlord. The Rock & Roll legend, conservationist, hunter and environmentalist has been spotted at the ranch with housing at the rear of his home near the pond.
I wonder who does the nest checks?
Check out the VH1 reality show with Ted Nugent putting contestants through hell to win a Dodge pickup and $25,000 in cash. They show a portion of the show where they sit at the tables behind the house overlooking the pond. The housing is adjacent to the pond.

Martin Colony History: Area is rural. Offer 28 compartments...metal housing (Lonestar Goliad) & Supergourds all w/crescent entrance holes. Purple martins are abundant here and eager for quality, well maintained, safe housing. Expect near 100% occupancy this season.
I wonder what Ted uses to control S & S? Probably a birdshot cannon
Probably uses his Bow and Arrow. He's quite the archer. Back a couple years ago at one of his concerts he pulled out his bow and shot an arrow into a big picture behind the stage of Saddam Hussein. Hit him right between the eyes too.
Always thought Ted was a good guy. Being aLandlord confirms it
Ted Nugent wrote:Remember the Alamo! Shoot 'em! To show you how radical I am, I want carjackers dead. I want rapists dead. I want burglars dead. I want child molesters dead. I want the sparrows dead. I want the starlings dead. I want the bad guys dead. No court case. No parole. No early release. I want 'em dead. Get a gun and when they attack you, shoot 'em." Okay, so maybe I added the part about the sparrows and the starlings, but the rest is an actual quote. Now that's what I call tough on crime.

I'll bet he would include the S & S if he were speaking to an audience like at Martin Fest

It's about time Uncle Teddy tried this! Ted's always looking for challenges and he took a lot of pride in the fact that he had done a great job at converting his "compound" here in Jackson Michigan into a real refuge with lots of overseen habitat. I encouraged him to try getting Martins but that was just about the time he was thinking of making the move to Texas either citing better abundance of "targets" or just warmer weather. January in Michigan can be tough in a loin-cloth! Maybe he'll set his sights back to "True North" again some day and be an advocate for the cause back in his native Motown habitat! Eventually he married the "traffic girl" from a local radio station so I'm betting that Shemane does all the nestchecks. She's the Queen of the Gourd Rack! Martins Rock!
Last I heard Ted had moved to Texas. He would appreciate Purple Martins and should be able to attract plenty in Texas. I so not know if he has his place in Michigan or not.
