last house check

We nade our last nest check today. Our T14 has the same two apartments with seven and six hungry pm's. We have ten other apartments with multiple eggs ranging from 5 to 7 each. Comment: I made as an experiment, four slide out drawers which makes is easy to see the nests, eggs and live chicks. Next season I will make some for the other apartments. Can someone explain why the two top apartments in the four apartment sides are avoided? Is is too hot?, too high? what? They don't like the penthouse! Bob Wally

I had one pair this year, super gourds. They made nests in two gourds with entrances to the south. One gourd 5 eggs, 5 marins, looks like they have started fledging. Lost to snakes 2ys ago and no martins last yr, so glad to have a pair back. I personally do not thinks there are that many Martins here on the east coast.
