Should I Remove Dead 2-1/2 Week Old
2nd year in a row this has happened in a Troyer gourd facing West. The ASY pair laid 6 eggs and one hatched. The baby (2-1/2 weeks old) is dead. No apparent injuries were noted. I don't know what happened, the female at least was always on guard from what I witnessed. The gourd does have the required modification. Should I remove the dead martin or just leave it?
All other gourds and house compartments are doing well.
I'm a "nestcamaholic" Is 18 hours a day a bad thing? (I have 2 this year, luckily I have 2 eyes!)

ALWAYS remove any dead birds immediately...
Thanks Emil,
I removed the bird. It appeared to have an abdominal problem. No external injuries, but had internal fluids leaking from the rectum area. Strange. This is a first for me. It might have been an intestinal failure?
Update: The ASY parents are back and the female is inside the gourd peering out as she has done for quite sometime.
Thanks Again Emil

Here's an update: The ASY Pair has left the colony. Most likely to fly around till, it's time to migrate down to Brazil. Maybe next year better luck.
