This year I noticed for *my* first time a new CD out that was a daytime song, being sold next to the well known dawn song CD.
Has anyone had experience with this new "day song" CD? Does anyone highly recommend it for new colonies?

Hi Bryan,
If you mean Daytime Chatter, it's been around for awhile. I think the reasoning is that it's not quite the siren that the dawnsong is, but it may be more appropriate/less confusing for martins to hear during the daytime hours.
I have not had to use recordings to attract breeding martins.
However in September, weeks after my colony has left for the season, I have played Daytime Chatter and attracted visiting (I assume migrating) martins to my property. I do this for selfish reasons... to boost my spirits and squeeze a little more martin-time into the year.
I know there are forum participants who have successfully used daytime chatter to help start new colonies and I hope some of them answer you.
My best, Mary

Yes, Mary, I'm sure that is the correct name. I couldn't remember the name, and intended my quotes to imply the uncertainty. Thanks. This clarification may help readers in their responses.

Bryan, also of note I feel is that the daychatter recording is much more "listenable" if you have neighbors or spend time outdoors around your Martin housing. The abrupt "chirps" and piercing cries in the Dawnsong for me at least are hard to take at times. I think the problem is the just the repetitiveness of it that wears on me. Even Muzak has built-in quiet pauses every few minutes to subconciously allow a listeners mind to "reset" occasionally! Try it, you might like it!

(grinning) Fred, I'd had the same feelings and thoughts in the past. I was actually looking forward to not having to play it this year! It's good to hear someone else express it.
We're setting up the dawn song tonight. We'll pick up the day chatter CD next day or so.
