Is there a set of specs for the modified cresent posted anywhere? I've done a search and can't find it. If it is patented or protected, that's fine to. Just contemplating some ideas for next year.

The crescent is not patented. I've not seen an "official" modified crescent. I have seen where folks round out the corners of the crescent so wings etc. can't get caught in the corner. Emil rounded his out using a sanding drum on a dremel (whatever size that is......roughly 1/2"). I have done the same.
Is there a modified crescent I'm not aware of?

Modified cresent may be the wrong wording!!
I guess what I meant was the "excluder" type opening. I saw where Sandy offers one but didn't know if the specs were available or protected??

Sandy explained awhile back that the patent covers about any hole with humps in it, so I guess the PMCA cannot legally publish a diagram suggesting folks make these.
If it helps your martins to buy a factory plate and and use it as a template for home use, you have my blessing, but not sure what that's worth. Ha.

Hello,
When it comes to patent infringment there need be concern only if your going to sell it in your design. If your making it for your own use you are free to do so. But lordy, lordy don't sell it. That is where treble damage comes it. You will owe not only what you cost the patent holder but three times that amount.

Thanks, I wouldn't want to do anything that would upset someone who has put a lot of time and effort into coming up with the design and marketing it. If I decide to make modifications to mine, I'll just buy the openings from Sandy.............I was just thinking out lould!
