It was overcast and drizzly for the last 2 days. I have 6 confirmed pairs. There were 20 on the perch rods, and I know at least 1 female is on some eggs. So I figure I have at least 9 new visitors. The SY males and females have been showing up in good numbers the last week. I should get the remaining 2 unoccupied gourds filled with some of these newcomers.

My birds has been all puffed up the last couple of days, you would think it was 40 degrees out.
Finely this afternoon it dried and warmed up some and they are out hunting.
I also have quite few on eggs. Didn't want to bother them in the cool weather so haven't got a good count yet. I got at least 35 pair and more sub-adults have showed up over the last week.

Our martins sit in the rain on the gourd rack. We have had almost 5" in the last week or so. It's almost as if they are sitting there cooling off.
Hopefully there will not be a drought this summer.

Brian- Glad to finally read some posts from a Kansan. It has rained here for the past 4 days. The sun peaked out for about 2 hrs today, long enough to make a run for the lawn mower, then clouded up again. I took out a cup of crickets for my Martins. I've got 3 nest built, no eggs, and around 8 martins. I also have 4 western king birds, 3 baltimore orioles, several finches, and I think a bluebird pair (they've been elusive). How long have you been raising Martins? I added more housing this year and have expanded a little. Lots of big bo gourds - hard to keep up with starling control even with BB guns and traps. They just don't want to give up. I've put up most with SREH, but left a few with rounds. Forecasting severe weather tomorrow to go with our 5" of rain this past week.
