Is there some reference material that describes how one prepares new housing for next year and how it is sandwiched into this year
ie: when should next years houses be put up,should they be open for HY inspection prior to migration south etc ,etc

Dick; If your not still having subbies arrive you might wait until your HY's are getting ready to fledge. This will give them more perching area and a chance to look over your new offerings. It is thought that most HY's will disperse in your general area and don't return to their hatching site the next year. The down side is you'll be fighting house sparrows in the new housing.

dick,
I would wait till next year to put up any new housing or add any housing, and when you put up anything new, leave the old house in place till the PM's get used to the newer one.
