Just wondering - How long do I wait - Is there still time to attrack Martins. I've dealt with the TS and the ___ Starlings - I still have my box shut up - After reading on the forum to keep the box shut up until I see a Martin - How is this achieved - I am not home throughout the day- how will a person know - I guess after reading the forum it sometimes takes years and with others it just happens - I losing patience - I guess I will just let nature take place and see what happens.

Thanks for any insight

Laura. You don't say if you have SREH on your PM housing. If you do, OR if you do NOT have a big problem with European Starlings, you could open at least a couple of apartments now. OH, Do you have a place for the TS to nest?? Are they committed to that nesting place?? If so, then you're good to go. If the TS are after the PM housing, then you need to get them into their own housing. Either a BB style box, or a gourd (if you have any.) You can go through the posts here, and read anything you see about Tree Swallows, and this might help. Oh and you have plenty of time. I'd say a good month to month and a half, possibly more even. The main thing is Do NOT get discouraged. Some of us have waited for years, and years. Oh, please don't ask to borrow any of my patience, as nearly 40 years of waiting for PMs has run mine pretty thin. ha ha. Good Luck. CUL Lou

Are you playing the dawnsong or daytime chatter CD? I think if you are playing the CD they will stay for a while. So you could leave it shutup as long as you get home in early afternoon. Or do as CUL Lou~Mich says if you don't have problems with Starlings or Sparrows. Good Luck
