I'm trying something new here. I know that the smaller hawks like Cooper's don't like crows and crows will often chase away smaller hawks. I got a couple of crow decoys from the local sporting goods store and put them in my yard, and move them around every day. No hawk attacks the kast few days SO FAR......will be nice if this works out......

Gene, if you move them regularly, it may work. A crow distress call when a hawk is seen may also help with the decoys..Let us know. Where did you place the crows?

Emil...I put them about 30' away from the gourd racks but in the open where they can be readily seen. The PM's didn't like then to start with, but have got use to them now.....

Chuck, probably the same things that your neighbors said when they saw you acting up...who else beside you would do that?
Chuck, a dstress call is purchased at a sporting good store, blow it and they attract every crow in the neighborhood that would quickly come to chase the hawk...get the idea???

We had 3 crow decoys and they seemed to work at first, but it didn't take long for the hawks to realize they weren't real birds. We moved them all over the yard so they'd think they were real, but just didn't work. We even put them on a pole and put them up through an apple tree so it would look like they were just sitting on a branch at the top of the tree. But after the Martin babies hatched, the fake crows worried the Martins so much, we took them down. The poor Martins were wearing themselves out dive-bombing the crows! But it may work better for you. Good luck!
