Last year I had 7 pair, which was my first year. I had an adult male show up a few days back but now there is no sign of him and no others have arrived. Is it early still in central Indiana or is there a problem?

I wouldn't worry as of yet , it is still early for your part of the country, watch the scout report.

You will get birds back this year. My pair numbers per year so far:

5, 10, 20, 27

I'm expecting between 35-40 pairs this year.

They Must be late. Last year was my first year as to actually have fledglings. I had 7 pair which out of those 5 of them had asy males and I believe females. I fledged 28 last year. After sy's showed up later I had around 20-22 martins staying full time. I have counted as high as forty flying around toward the end of the season.

This year on 4-7-06 @ 11:30 am I heard a asy male outside and it landed on one of the house's. I went out to raise all the way up from half mass. He flew over closer to me as to say get these things all the way up. We'll after I got them up he takes off across the street to what I thought was to feed. Since then have only seen him twice doing fly-byes. I had no attacks that I know of. They just plain aren't here yet. I did see an sy or asy female slip into the back of my castle tonight right before dark. My wife said she had seen the martin there a couple days ago @ same location of castle. First time I saw it.

There was some bad weather around the southern part of state where they seems to be stalled at when the rain and low temps were here. Not sure if that could be an issue?

I guess it's just a waiting game now, because.......I AM READY!!!!

I did report asy male. Will post if and when they get here!

Good luck!

Thanks all, after several years of trying I guess I'm just on pins and needles a bit early.

Martin Colony History: I moved to South Florida, from Delaware, in August of 2015.

I care for a 6 condo Sunset House as well as two Deluxe Gourd Racks, with 24 Chirpynest/Excluder gourds, along a canal in Pompano Beach, Florida.

At Quiet Waters Park, nearby in Deerfield Beach, I care for a Deluxe Gourd Rack with 12 TVG's. I also care for a Deluxe Gourd rack with 12 Excluder gourds with Modified Excluder entrances. I am substituting 6 Chirpynest boxes for 6 of the Conley II entranced gourds in 2026.

At another local park, Tradewinds Park in Coconut Creek, I care for a Trendsetter 12, 5 gourds rack with 60 Excluder gourds with Modified Excluder Entrances and 1 Deluxe Gourd Rack with 12 Troyer Vertical Gourds with Starling Stoppers over the Conley II's to keep out smaller starlings.

I have not see a sign of martins in my neighborhood yet and there are at least two established colonies within 1/4 mile of my house. It has been windy and cold though in April. I did see three t.s. yesterday though. Hope a pair chooses to nest in my Supergourds that I put up specifically for them in my front yard.
