I did my first "official" nest check yesterday and was happy to see martin reproduction is in full swing in South Louisiana. I noticed a few subbies looking to mate up but I will have to put up the "no vacancy" sign as 20 of my 22 gourds have PM nests. There was some fighting yesterday so I guess the new birds are trying to take the two remaining gourds. Next year I plan to add the extension to my PMCA 12 rack and give them 12 more cavities. The neighbor sure is liking the extra martins as I have noticed they went from i metal house to a gourd rack this year - must have seen all the action.

My Maurice site (16 gourds Alamo Rack) is quite - only dawn song and two decoys.....the trees, the trees, I need a bull dozer. Oh well, glad to have them at my other site.

Happy Martin...ing
