Wanna be landlord needs help.

I have had my house up for two years now with no luck. In the past I had the Heath Aluminum 12-room house (I know not very good) and the Trio Castle 24 compartments house. This year I purchased some gourds, decoys and the dawnsong cd. I don't think the ASY males have made it here yet this year, so I am hoping my new resources will help. There are not that many houses around my area and there used to be Coopers hawks around (Crows have taken over their nest now). I keep reading about people modifying there house that Martins will like better or feel safer in. Could someone please fill me in on modifications being done to the two house I have. Do I need to modify my houses? How to modify my house is needed? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
