I'm trying to start a new colony and am playing the Dawnsong CD early in the morning and the Daytime Chatter CD during the day and evening. I have 1 adult pair staying at the site for the last 3 days. They leave in the morning and return in the evening.
My question is should I continue the CD's with just one pair in residence, or leave it up to them to try to attract more PM's? I don't want to annoy them or run them off with too much chatter.
When Do I Stop The Music?

Flydock,
I would stop immediately. Nothing will attract martins as well as the pair you already have in residence. No need to attract hawks, owls, etc. to your site needlessly.
The hard part is done.....sit back and watch your colony grow!

Flydock. I wholeheartedly agree with Hogwild. Let the real thing do the attracting, and get rid of the memorex. With the memorex playing all day, this is attracting Hawks, which you don't need. The only thing to gain with this situation is the Hawk. CUL Lou

I KEPT PLAYING THE DAYTIME CHATTER DURING THE DAY TO ATTRACT MORE MARTINS AS THEY FLY AROUND LOOKING FOR BUGS.
SOME SAY IT WILL ATTRACT HAWKS, I SAY IT MIGHT, BUT I KNOW IT WILL ATTRACT MORE MARTINS.
I STILL PLAY MARTIN MUSIC FROM NOON TILL 4 PM WHEN THE OTHERS ARE GONE.
IT WORKS FOR ME.
