Finally saw my first PM!! But I have a question...

I was getting ready to go to work when I looked outside and there was a purple martin checking out a gourd! When I stepped out onto the porch to get a better look, he flew away but came back in a few minutes. He flew off again and I had to leave for work, so I'm not sure if he will stay around or not. He appeared to be ASY but I'm not positive about the ID. I do know there have not been any subbie reports in NC. My question is, do I submit a scout report on this siting? I know it has been discussed here before, but I can't remember if there were any definite conclusions. But I am so glad I finally got to see one!!!!!

Hi Sheila,

Congrats on your first martin :!:  Definitely make a scout report regardless if it is male or female. I don't think the subbies are that far north since they haven't made it to north Texas yet. Good luck,

Dale
