My neighbor has a tractor barn with a lean-to on it. He works on tractors
at this barn everyday but the martins don't mind, but lately he has started
spraypainting tractors under this lean-to which is about 30 feet from one
of my martin houses could this be harmful to the martins are their eggs
or young?

Hi April,
Paint fumes are harmful to any living thing exposed to too much of it. He should not be spraying paint that blows on to your property and I would suggest that you ask him not to paint when the wind is blowing in the direction of your property. Depending on your relationship with him, it might be better not to express that you are protecting unfeathered nestlings and eggs as that might cause him to blame and vent against the martins and their house location. Rather ask him not to allow spray paint to blow on your property. Laws certainly protect against that type of trespass and he should understand your concern.
Best wishes. jb

Hello John,
Thanks for the advice, you are right he should not spray when the wind is
blowing in my direction, so I will have a talk with him about this. It should
not offend him, it would not offend me if the shoe was on the other foot.
Thank you once again.

If worst comes to worse, ask him if he would atleast out up a tarp to keep the paint somewhat where he's painting. Does he wear a breathing resperator when spraying?

Hello Chuck,
No he wears no kind of protection at all, he has a tarp on the other side,
a tarp on my side would be a good idea, maybe a little inconvenient as
my side is the side that he drives the equipment under the lean-to, he
can not get it in from the other side. He is also the neighbor with the John
Deere martin house that is full of sparrows!! Thanks for the advice
