Is there any value to using owl guards on gourds and houses to deter hawk attacks?

Do hawks attack the housing directly, attempting to attack PM in the nests, or do they only attack in the air ~ or both!?

I may find out soon as we now have a cooper's or sharp shinned sitting on our gourd rack poles under our Lone Star "alamo" house . . .

Thanks,

Debba

Debba. Owl guards are also called Hawk guards. They are quite often referred to as "Owl/Hawk" guards. I believe Hawks will try to take PMs from the porches in addition to taking them in the air. Since I don't have PMs, I'm only speaking of what I've read from others. Hopefully your Hawk will migrate on soon. CUL Lou

It takes little time to wrap sturdy wire around the front, of your houses. There are pictures in the archives. Sorry I can not give of a link. Maybe someone else will or you can search. I made wire loupes at the bottom and wire ties at the top. Works like a door attached. Is not, in the road of nest servicing. It opens down and does not have to be removed.
