Just wondering how all the north Texas landlords are doing in this wind. We've had gusts approaching 40 mph so I lowered my Trio with the gourds just a bit. It has withstood all the winds to date but it makes me nervous to watch everything bouncing and swaying. Since I'm home today, I decided to lower it a little. If it's not one thing it's another.
Good luck,
Patrick

Yeah Patrick, we have had quiet a few windy days this month , last Week sat nite/sun morn I had one of my HzTroyer's on the ground, i quickly made the repairs and raised it again it has a asy couple that occupy it.I don't know about everyone else but i guess i'm lucky in that both my Housing & Gourd rack come with 2" square tubing w/ winch setup's so the wind hasn't harmed them in any way altho they do sway back & forth alot but my PM's seem to be enjoying the ride.Everythings Good here so far.

Patrick,
Your right,if it's not one thing it's another. If it's not the wind it's the rain,if it's not the rain,it's cold, if it's not the cold it's the hawks.I feel so stressed about my purple friends. And now I hear it is going to rain all next week..Well, I suppose that is the life of a landlord these days..It will all be worth it in July when I see all those baby martins making their first flight..

I know what you mean. I really get involved with my martins. I watched the weather channel and saw that winds will remain high tonight so I left my pole with the gourds on it where it was. I'll raise it in the morning before I leave for work. It's amazing how lowering it just a foot can reduce the sway. The martins don't seem to care if it's up or down. I really think it would have been okay to leave it where it was but as long as it doesn't disturb the martins and it relieves a little of my stress, then I'll leave it lowered until this wind dies down.
It was such a warm, still day yesterday, I put out a tray of pine needles, thinking my colony might be in the nesting mood. Guess I though wrong. They're just not ready yet but they're dividing neatly into pairs. I have 5 ASY males and each one has a female. I didn't notice the rogue trouble maker today so either he didn't come back or they settled the dispute of yesterday.
Have a great week and keep us posted on all of your colonies' progress.
