Advice on Scope Power for Air Rifles

No Maritins yet, but lots of Sparrows & Starlings and I plan to take ACTION!!. I'm buying a Pellet Rifle and would like advise from other members as to the power rating I need on the scope.

For me, 4x is it. Over the years, I purchased several 3-9x zoom scopes and invariably end up using about 4x with the zooms. A sharp view is more important than magnification.

Do buy the largest objective you can afford. A 4x20 is useless in low light or hazy conditions. Go for at least 4x32; 4x40 or 4x50 will give you sharper views when light isn't perfect.

Bill, need to know what type of pellet gun. Spring guns take special scopes due to the reaction of the spring when release. Co2 and pump-up can take any scope due to no repercussion of springs being released. Agree with " Tree"at least get a 32MM by what ever. I have old eyes so I need more zoom power, but I rarely use them over 6 power. IMO Bushnell sportmans are had to be around 70 bucks if you shop around.
