How do I attach predator guard to Coates tele pole?
I have a Coates 12' telescoping pole and I bought a 24" piece of stove pipe with a cap to make the predator guard. I drilled a hole in the cap so I could put guard over the pole but in order to use the telescoping method, I had to put the guard on the bottom pole below the last bolt. But the guard is only about 4" off the ground. Is that enough? How do I place it higher without it getting in the way of the bolts and thumbscrews that make the pole go up and down?

Sure is a good decision, to use a critter guard, on your pole. I have the same pole and consequently the same physical thing to ponder.
For now I am using four inch sewer and drain PVC. This one rests on the ground and comes up, to the the through bolt, on which our telescoping section rests upon. You could drill your pole, for a piece, of rod, which could also go through the stove pipe. I think your application is fine. The attachment has several considerations. Your gap concern makes no difference, in my opinion.
