DAWN SONG CONS

Ken, it's my opinion that you don't need it. Your 2 males will attract other Martins. Why risk drawing Predators to your site or confusing the Martins you already have. I'd hate to see them leave.

Thanks for the reply Barb. I'll depend on the PMs I have and hope for some luck this year.

I would think it would help me attract the Subbies, ?
Thanks,

The dawnsong or nothing else will attract the SYs to your housing like that pair and the male you have already hanging around!

Ken,
The martins you presently have will do the best job in attracting the sub adults. You no longer should be playing the Dawn Song once you have martins occupying your site.

Thanks Hogwild, and Sharon. Waiting for the Subbies is like waiting for my pair that returned.
Now I don't have to get up at 4 AM either.

I won't go into a long story but up until two years ago I was doing rather well with my birds. Then for the past two seasons I had none. Nothing around my housing seemed to change, no predators or any indications there was a problem. I am now trying desperately to regain that success. I have purchased two new poles and gourds, along with a new pole and house. I also purchased a "morning song" which brings me to my question: How do I know it is what I need? Could it be just "day chatter". how does one describe the "morning song"? Does anyone have a small audio file that can be played on windows media player that I could compare? Would one of you out there email me a audio file if it isn't to much of problem?
Please advise and thank you.

Once you have martins residing at your site, you no longer need the dawn song. The live birds are far more effective in attracting the subbies. And I have heard the DS may frighten or confuse your existing birds.

Sorry about posting about this subject twice. I scrolled down to the bottom of the first page thinking that was the last message on this topic. Once my second answer came up I realized there were TWO pages on this topic :-). That's what happens when one doesn't pay attention!
