I wrote in awhile back asking about swaying pole problems, etc. and had a wonderful response from many of you. I have also been reading your forum posts everyday and have obtained an enormous amount of info. re: PM landlording. Your collective suggestions have driven me to read everything I can about this intriguing bird. I have come to one conclusion, tho...Martining is just about as challenging as Fishing for the big one, the only difference is the size of the pole.

I do have news, however, I had a male on our house Wed am checking things out and the minute I saw him, I knew without a doubt that he was a Martin. I also think we had another one last nite checking it out but didn't get a very good look. We have neighbors about 1/2 mile down the road who currently report they have about 5 pair at their place and I was able to recently drive by and see a male on one of their houses, so I now know for sure what they look like and they are definitely in the neighborhood.

Based on much reading and from the information shared by you folks, we have modified our S&K house from 12 small compartments to 6 larger compartments, I am adding some straw and spanish moss for nesting marterial, we've ordered some gourds and decoys and dawn song CD. We can't get pine needles here in this area so we're thinking about making available some baled Coastal Bermuda "hay", does anyone know if it's something the PM's will use?

This is an amazing but frustrating hobby for those of us who want "quick" results. When we got into this we had no idea at all what kind of network is available out there for those of us who are novices.

We remain hopeful and look forward to doing the best we can as responsible landlords if and when we get lucky.

Again, thanks for all the valuable info you all share on this site.
