Hey Martin Friends,
Here's a link to an article I wrote about martins in the Missouri Conservationist magazine. It mentions several fine Missouri landlords.

Now, I'm gonna be out of town all weekend, so if my friend Robert from Kentucky say us Missourians must have strained arms from reaching for our backs -- let me inform him in advance I'm actually a native Kentuckian. Ha.!
As John Barrow said about his Texas article, everyone is free to use any of this. I hope maybe it sparks ideas for articles about other states.

John, you deserve a pat on the back for that nice article, even if you are from Kentucky..smile...Seriously John, it is good for the purple martins to see articles like that in the paper, and those kind of articles help educate future purple martin landlords...that is the best thing that we as landlords can do, and that is to educate the people that know nothing about martins. good for you, and thanks..

John,
Thanks for taking the time to write a great article that you are willing to share with others. You are definitely deserving of a pat on the back by me so that you don't pull a muscle doing it yourself...consider it done
Have a great year my PM friend,
Dale

Thanks guys for your responses. The article is just martins 101, but I'm proud to get it in the Missouri Conservationist, which is well read in our state.
I've been thinking these state magazines about fish and wildlife/conservation are good places for us to place articles about purple martins. Each has statewide circulation, and in Missouri at least, the Conservationist seems to be the Bible for wildlife information.
I'm a former newspaper reporter, but many, many of you could write these articles for your states. Just contact the appropriate editors and suggest the topic to see if they would consider it, perhaps writing something this summer for publication next spring.

John,
I received the Missouri Conservation Magazine today. I was so pleased to see the martin on the cover. The article is great. You did an excellent job on helping our residence see what a benefit it is in providing housing for our purple friends. Thanks so much for allowing my colony to be a part of it.
The martins are here. I had three ASY males yesterday.

John,
That is an excellent article. So clear, accurate and readable! I think it's wonderful that you took the initiative to get it printed in such a respected and well read magazine.
I'm going to start a PM Club here in Central Florida and will use some of the information. Thanks for sharing it with us!
