Well, once again, I'm NOT impressed by the weather. I'm sure my little birdys aren't either. I got up a bit ago, and took the dog out. Looked at my bird bath, and it was froze. So, I came back in, and got a big ole 64 ounce glass of hot water. Took it out, and gently poured it on the ice. Melted a hole in it, and then poured the balance in. Looked at my Thermometer, and it read 2. Brrrr. That was maybe half an hour ago. The bird bath is refroze already, and there have been several little birds (AGF, Juncoes, Chickadees, etc) walking around on the ice trying to get a drink. Hope the sun gets to the bird bath and partially melts it soon. The sun is just about as bright as can be, and not a cloud in the sky near me. Some way off to the west is all. Only supposed to get up to 11 today, then low 20s tomorrow. Yeeeeaaaaaaa. Come on spring. CUL Lou

It's about the same in St. Louis. Not supposed to warm much until midweek. I worry about martins that have arrived in southern states.

First time for me, I ordered a box of crickets yesterday for potential use in March and April here. If UPS leaves them on the front porch Monday or Tuesday, they'll just get a good start on getting chilled down before the freezer!

Nothing that cold here Lou, thank the Lord. We may see a little snow or freezing rain but maybe not. Down here in these TN valleys its very hard to predict just what will happen with the weather. No martins in this part of the state and just as well as it will stay cold and nasty for the next week at least.

Found a bird bath heater on close-out @ Wally World for $10, normally about $30; about 50 watt, I believe. Works great!

Hello CUL Lou. Thanks for the cheering up. Just reading your post made me quit being depressed about our cold spell here in Cen Texas. We may only see 40 today. M.H.

MH. 40?? Wow, that's almost sunbathing weather. ha ha. I did say almost though.
Jim. Ya, I'm just waiting to win the Lottery, then I'm moving to Tn.
EP. Mine works pretty good, unless it gets a real cold spell, or cold and wind. That's what we've had the past day or so. Cold and hard winds.
John. Ya, if UPS leaves them outside most anyplace, they won't need the freezer. I think it's supposed to warm up some mid week here also.

Lou, bless your heart! That weather sounds just awful. Yes, you do need to win the lottery and move south. But I've got to tell you - it's not very warm down here just now. Our high today was 33. Now, I know that is not even in the ballpark with your cold temps, but it still feels very cold with the wind blowing so hard. Especially after it being so warm all winter!

Sue. But average for average, I'll take your anyday. During the winters especially that is. ha ha. CUL Lou

2 degrees here in mid north Indiana. From what I've read, it seems Martins are arrive a little early in southern states. Do you think the cold weather here will slow them down or has the migration started? Thanks
CUL Lou~Mich

Ricluc. No, they're only into Southern Tennessee right now.A very good friend is having to feed her PMs every 45 minutes. It'll be March before any get to you, and April 15 before they are due here in Lowell, Mich. HOPEFULLY, this weather will straighten out by then. Someplace here on the PMCA Site, there is an "average arrival date calendar." Try the scout report page?? That should show you when to expect them at your place if you can find it. CUL Lou
