Last year there was a post in regard to an adjustable SREH. It allowed a person to start with a larger hole and adjust the size down as you trained the birds. Where can they be purchased or the plans be seen?

Martin Colony History: First started in Gretna, La in 1969 with a small homemade house, have had martins ever since at 2 different homes in Texas

I don't know where the photos of them are, but they basically are 2 pieces, the upper piece has a 3in circle, the botom piece is a horizontal piece of metal or plastic..

Slots are cut into one piece so it can slide up and down at a screw that is in the second piece..at the desired opening, you tighten the screw on each side to hold it in place

I experimented with another approach to this last year with pretty good success. On the crescent doors that come with Trio houses, I opened a few to 1 1/4 and clearly labled them so I would not forget. After martins entered, two days later I switched out the doors. This is farily feasible because extra doors can be purchased. I see you are using a T-14. If you have plates with standard crescents, it might be reasonable to open some as "trainnig wheels" and then switch out the plates to standard openings. Remember that opening as much as 1 1/4 will let starlings right in. I'm just suggesting it for a couple of days on a few compartments as a different approach to an adjustible SREH.
