repeating trap mod
i made 2 repeating traps for starlings. followed chuck abares plans for sparrow trap but modified for starlings. in the bottom of the cage he has a wooden circle to plug the wire mesh trap bottom, instead of cobbling a escape hatch for blue birds, etc. in the side, I put a 1 1/2 hole in the bottom near one side. Does any one see a problem with them escaping this way?

I really don't know, most people put the 1-1/2 in hole on the side, but it may still work..

i don't know if they will exit the bottom either, but when i had my cage 100% wire and had a small wooden plate w/ the 1 1/2" hole in the side, the TS could NOT find it. they would cling to the sides and never see the hole. i think the BB were a little smarter. my new holding cage is mostly 1/2" plywood now, w/ the side towards my home wire so i can see in. i don't recall seeing any bb/ts in the trap since then, so i either never caught any since, or they can now find the exit hole.
