I went to buy wood yesterday for building the T-14. I was going to use the #2 pine. The plans call for 70 ft. of 1"x12". At $15 per 10' board, it would have cost $105. I would then need the "extras" wood and the "accessories". I called the PMCA to see if they had some kind of map that would best help me economize my cuts. I was referred to the Troyer's. When I called, I was very happy to be talking to Mr. Troyer himself. He is a very helpful and gentle man. He gave me the "run down" of the house, the types of wood I should use and why,and in general answered anything I threw at him. I told him that I was a novice woodworker and would have to go to Fort Belvior to cut the wood. He kindly suggested that I buy the already pre-cut and pre-drilled kit. PMCA used to carry it in their catalog but no longer does. It worked out to be a good deal cost wise. Mr. Troyer said that "People that care about the birds are honest people" and I believe he is right! Just another reason to respect the Amish.
