Hey all Been awile since i posted, well i couldn't get them to stay so i moved. Well not just for the Martins anyhow, we are living in a awsome duplex with plenty of land behind me that has perfect Martin habitat.
I decided to remove the gourd rack at my old place and install it here at my new temp palace, since the Martins reminded me for 4 yrs that i needed to make a change if i wanted them to stay.
So i have purchased a 1 acre beautiful lot with plenty of room for a great Colony, hopefully i will start to built late this year, meanwhile i am hoping the Martins will enjoy the area i have set up for them.
The Gourd rack i have installed is about 70 ft from tree's and around 45 to 50 ft from the house and 11 ft high and 10 ft from the bottom of the gourds so, i am hoping and praying for a colony this year.

Benson - Wow - You moved to get martins - You certainly deserve them  I would move too if hubby would just agree. I don't think he's going to move so we can have martins and he loves them as much as I do

Good luck this year, Benson. I hope you have TONS of martins :!:

Yep i was way too close to very tall tree's, i even raised the pole to 19 ft high hoping this would attract them and it did for about a week and then one morning they just left and never returned. So i placed the rack far from tree's and around 40 to 50ft from our duplex now and think this might be the remedy, in Blanchard Oklahoma we have a huge population of Martins and housing but i have noticed many are being neglected by the landlords. I have chosen natural gourds and painted them white, i feel that the Martins prefer this housing over manmaid homes. The first year i put up the gourds i had alot of interest.

Benson, you should do well this year. Martins can't resist natural gourds! Good for you for moving!
