Expensive vs cheap paint

Ok, a dumb question. Again, this is my first time going through preparing natural gourds, and I have already mentioned my lack of experience in being a handyman at all with tools and paint. With that said...

Was at Walmart today sitting in the car waiting for the wife, when I went in to coax her out so we could get home and I could mount my new S&S Trap before dark. While in Walmart we walked by the paint section, and knowing I was going to be needing paint in the next couple of days to paint my natural gourds I decided to pick it up. But after informing me that after he shook the paint it would only be good for 24 hours and that after I would need to stir the primer 78 times, and stir the paint 200 times, I decided to wait to pick it up the day I actually needed it.

But he did mention that they carry a white paint that was suppose to reflect the sun better than the others but he didn't think it would be worth the extra cost for the small benefit. According to him this expensive alternative that was better at sun reflection was around $30 a gallon compared to approx $11 a gallon for a regular semi-gloss house paint.

Would the difference between the two even be noticeable for the PM's in regards to the comfort and heat inside the gourd? I am guessing not. Is there a standard for PM housing? If so, please show me the secret handshake.

If these are new gourds, make sure you soak them first in copper sulfate. I primer mine with kiltz and then just painted them with flat latex house paint. I just used $15.00 a gallon paint from Home Depot. My gourds went through the first year and still look like new.
