Version 1.5.2 of the EPMP (Electronic Purple Martin Prognosticator) is now availabe on the Central Indiana Purple Martin Association (CIPMA) website http://cipma.zionsvilleswimclub.org/download.htm.
It is an Excel spreadsheet that keeps detailed statistics of many parameters of your martin colony. It is patterned after the "Wheel Prognosticator" and the Martin Watch Data Sheets the PMCA publishes. The data can be sent to the PMCA each season for their review as well.
The spreadsheet is available free of charge. The new version corrects some statistics on the Summary Page to make them more representative and also contains some minor formatting corrections. I understand that it is compatible with the free Open Office software if you do not have Excel.
Hope you find it useful.

Hello Roger!
Just wanted to drop a quick note to say thanks for the spreadsheet. I have used it for the past two years and find it very useful. I normally add an extra sheet so I can post my notes as the season progresses. This makes is very easy to look over the prior year. Thanks again!!!

Thanks for the kind words, Adam. It's users like you who have made the spreadsheet better with commenets, suggestions for improvements and bug fixes. I think the extra worksheet for notes each year is a great idea.
Glad you are enjoying the program.

Roger, I would also like to thank you for your spread sheet. I am using your version 1.4.1 and have records from 02 - 05 on it. Is there a way I can import these records to the new version. Thanks again.

Roger, I'll verify that your spreadsheet works perfectly with Open Office when used with a Linux operating system. Download Open Office free or you can get it on CD for a few dollars .RLee wrote:... I understand that it is compatible with the free Open Office software if you do not have Excel.

Larry,
I'm afraid there is no super-easy way to transfer data from 1.4.1 to 1.5.2, but then again if you have 15 minutes or so it isn't that difficult either. First, make a backup of your 1.4.1 version, just in case. Second, open both versions. Third, copy and paste your data from the white cells in each spreadsheet for each year from the 1.4.1 version into it's respective cell in 1.5.2. A couple of cautions, in version 1.5.2 column D is "Cavity Size", not "Cavity Occupied" as in version 1.4.1 so be careful when you copy and paste. Also remember to copy line 2 which are the scout arrival and departure dates from the old to the new spreadsheet. You can add the cavity size data to the new 1.5.2 version if you wish, or not, as the spreadsheet will work even if you don't but some stats won't be available. You cannot copy accidently into a formula cell as they are protected.
I would highly suggest you make the effort to upgrade. There are subtle, but significant changes going on under the hood (bugfixes, added stats, graphing, etc) that are not apparent plus some changes to the way stats are handled on the main Summary Page that are well worth the time spent. You should be able to do all 4 years relatively quickly.
Please contact me if you have any issues.
Joe,
Thanks for the help. I saw it didn't work but was too lazy to go back and fix it. Hope you are continuing great progress on your recovery. This is your year for martins! Talk to you soon.

Thank you Roger. That sounds a lot easier than the way I did it in the past. Have a great Martin year.
