As I was surfing around, I stumbled onto this great little site that has photos, and a great video of a martin roost in Lewisville, Texas.
The video launches by itself.

Texas Whaler, thanks for the pics and video. That is sooooo amazing to see that many martins. I loved it!!

Martin Colony History: Tried and tried and had some visitors but...not enough good insects around here to keep them interested.

The second part of the video sure has a high background noise. At first I thought it was truly noise, now I think it sounds just like the descriptions by old-time ornithologists when they described the sounds of so many birds as "like escaping steam" which they would have been more familiar with living during the time of ferry steamers, traction engines and steam locomotives. Pretty cool! Thanks for sharing.
