duck, look for the section "Preliminary observations after Hurricane Rita", near the end of the original post above. The section is mainly in reference to the storm surge tide levels following Hurricane Rita.

Hurricane Rita will not have near the impact that Hurricane Katrina is likely to have had, given the latter's timing. The only reason I believe Hurricane Rita will potentially have a significant impact, is two-fold. First, post-breeding migration was later than most years - which is probably tied to the late migration arrival that many reported earlier this year. Second, Hurricane Katrina probably pushed those individuals that were migrating further north, which had the effect of further delaying migration - as migrating individuals would have had to retrace ground that had already been covered.
