Bob (Robert McCallum on this forum), I was able to lighten your picture up some. However, like you said, you lose a little quality when you upload it to MSN through their utility that resizes and adjust file size for browser efficiency. On my other website, it doesn't have that problem, however it was just too complex for some people. MSN websites, like the one I setup the Purple Martin group on, are geared towards people who are not computer savvy.

Thanks for the lightening. I can do that with my Adobe Photoshop Album program but couldn't find a way to copy it to the MSN Group. Eventually I will. And I hope to eventually find a way to get the ActiveXControl to download. I also need it for other purposes. Right now, it's InactiveX Control.

Bob, You can upload pictures directly from your computer without the use of you Adobe Photoshop Album software. Matter of fact, when you upload photos to your MSN photo album, you don't even need to have your Adobe Photoshop software even open. You just need to know the directory location of your photos. For example...
C:\Documents and Settings\Compaq_Owner\Desktop\example.jpg
That would be an example of a directory address of a picture called example.jpg located on the desktop of your compuer. (another words on your main screen of your compuer)
You must have that part figured out anyways since you already uploaded that one pic. You would need to lighten any pics and save them first using your Adobe Photoshop software. After you have adjusted your picture to your liking, you could then totally close out of the Adobe Photoshop software before going to the Purple Martin MSN Group website to upload the picture.
As far as the ActiveXControl, I wasn't aware you had to add one to upload pictures. However, I already have the MSN browser loaded on my computer in addition to Internet Explorer, so it was probably already installed on my sytem. Anything that is required for you to submit picture should automatically load on your computer. Obviously you were able to get it to work to some level as you did load that one picture.
Just let me know the error message you get next time you have difficulty and mabye together we can figure it out.

Bob, you would first need to upload the picture to the internet. You would then type out the full internet address to the pic in between the "Img" tags. You are on the right track. Here is an example using your picture I uploaded to one of my website.

In this situation, the address to the location of your picture is http://www.prognesubis.com/photopost/da ... obMcC1.jpg
Note: I intentionally put spaces on each side of the address to keep it from loading and actual pic so you can better understand.

Bob, you can not put the address of the file on your computer. The pic must first be uploaded to the internet.
Ok, here is another example, I will "post-link" your profile picture...
this code=>
will get you the picture below displayed...

Bob, here is another example. I will "post-link" the picture you just loaded on the Purple Martin MSN Group. First I will display the code, then I will show the picture below.

As you can see, the full url address to DCP04333_edited.JPG is....
http://groups.msn.com/_Secure/0UgCbAgcY ... edited.JPG
You just place
at the back of it with no spaces.
You can test a url address by typing it into your browser address window and seeing if it will actually take you to the picture. You should do this first to verify you have a good url address.
Here is the full url address to your picture in link format...

Bob, I hope it is ok that I am posting this message here because I want other people to be able to see the message and learn from it.
First of all, I am glad you figured out ho to display your own profile picture. At least you understand the basics now.
However, the code will not work just anywhere, like the e-mail you sent me, for example, because "Img tags" are not activated inside a lot of e-mails, but they are activated in the PMCA forum. "Img tags" are activated on the Purple Martin MSN Group Message Board though. I have posted a few pictures on the message board with text so it does work there.
As far as where to store the pictures on the web. You store them where you are storing them now. You store them in your photo album. However, when you want to display any pictures there, you will need to show the full url address to each picture individually. You tried to display a picture on your photo album with the following code...
*** wrong code ***
http://groups.msn.com/PurpleMartin/bobm ... PhotoID=99
*** wrong code ***
The above url address looks like the address to your photo album itself, not to an idividual picture. A correct url addresss will end with the file name, for example MYPICTURE.JPG is how a url address should end if it is to "post-link" a picture.
In your above url address (the one that is wrong), look at the ending of it. It ends bobmccsmartinpix.msnw?action=ShowPhoto&PhotoID=99 and that is not a file name. That is a url address to a specific MSN HTML page, but not a valid picture file name.
Here is the correct url address to your rainbow picture...
http://groups.msn.com/_Secure/0TgDrAi0X ... edited.JPG
You will notice that in the above url address, it ends in DCP04332_edited.JPG and this is a valid picture file name. This is how any url address should end in order to "post-link" photos using the "Img tag".
Here it is again, but with the spaces just for explanatory reason, you would just simply remove the spaces and place this code in an environment where "Img tags" are active, like the PMCA forum for example or the Purple Martin MSN Group Message Board.

You can see that the from the above complete url address to your rainbow photo that the url adress ends in DCP04332_edited.JPG which is ofcourse the picture you want to display.
Give it a try and then we can go from there.
Oh, and here is your rainbow pic...

Bob, you kind favor Howard Keel, the man who played Clayton Farlow on the T.V. series Dallas. Has anyone ever told you that?
