It was wery succesfull year here up north.I had 56 nesting pairs that raised 249 young. In the mid season I had blow fly and flees infestation.Changing nests and sevin fixed them up for good. The birds are still hanging around and i have three nests with late hathers. They need about two weeks to be ready to take off.

Best of lack next year

Martin Colony History: Erected 1st house in 1997. Birds were checking it out before Mike got down from the ladder. Six cavities had a little colony 1st year. Grown to 88 cavities all gourds with near 100% occupancy. Most important factor for success is rain = bugs.

Hello, Peter.

Great job! You are maintaining a really big colony there. I averaged your numbers and that comes to 4.45 young per pair. Good production rate.

56 pair would be 112 adult PMs hanging around all the time even before the fledglings take to the air. I'm sure they are a site to see...

Best wishes to you for many successful seasons in your future.

Edit: What type of housing do you have?
Sincerely,
Laverne

Peter, What design are your houses based on? They must be something else to hold that many birds. What is the total capacity of each house, how long has the colony been in existance? It would be nice if you could resize the pictures and post them.
