Martin Colony History: Erected 1st house in 1997. Birds were checking it out before Mike got down from the ladder. Six cavities had a little colony 1st year. Grown to 88 cavities all gourds with near 100% occupancy. Most important factor for success is rain = bugs.

Coming soon will be the new Project MartinRoost site, an online catalog of North American Purple Martin Roosts. There are approximately 363 known or suspected Purple Martin Roosts cataloged so far! Check back soon.

I just found this notice at the top of the PM Roosts Page. I don't know how long it has been there - I have a tendency to blow by information I "think" I have already seen.

I just know this is going to help a lot of landlords find their local premigratory roost!!

Thank you, PMCA!!
Sincerely,
Laverne

hey....that will be fun to see. I would like to find one near my home. I should call the Racine Water Works and see if they still have all the martins they used to have.
thanks again Laverne

Laverne, thanks for posting this. I hope someone reports one near me...Pat

Well, if they have over 300 roosts identified, someone needs to get busy putting them in. It says it was last updated on 6/29/05, and by my count there are 14. CUL Lou
