 I have a big natural gourd with 5 babies inside, twice in two days,a cooper hawk has landed on porch, gone crazy trying to drag out babies to no avail..I guess they crowd way back in huge gourd and survive..A word to the wise...frank

This is exactly why I praise the Troyer Horizontal gourds. Very good system you have in effect Frank.

I have never heard of anyone criticizing deep nest cavities; on the contrary one of the benefits of deep compartments is predator inaccessibility. Happy to hear it worked for you.

Which Gourd is better? The double gourd or the whistle gourd? And can the double gourd fit better on the PMCA Deluxe Gourd Rack? How do you hang the Whistle Gourd on the PMCA Rack? How much does each gourd weigh? I'm thinking of switching some of my Supergourds next year! Thanks John!

I got one Whistle Gourd and one Double Gourd to test this season and the Martins and I both love them. Each one fledged seven very healthly babies. That is fourteen young who have a very good chance of returning to North America to someone's colony in 2006!!

I am impressed with them and I told Dave at S&K that I like them. I like the Whistle Gourd a little better than the Double Gourd but not because it's better, I just like it's looks better. Both are well worth the price.

I am considering building a rack similar to Cheri Warner's mailbox rack but only with Whistle Gourds mounted on it.
