Hi Group,
I ran across a local gentleman selling a complete Troyer pole with 12 round hole Supergourds for a fair price so I grabbed it.
Looked at options for putting tunnels on the Supergourds, and while Troyer had a solution it was pretty expensive to do them all. I ended up grabbing some Conley 2 clinger tunnels on sale from S&K. Got them put on 4 of the gourds so far along with a vent elbow on top. It’s hard to get the tunnels put in perfectly square etc., but I don’t think the birds will mind and it’s a fun late winter project.
Anyone else modify round hole Supergourds?

Yep that will work, like the fact the hanging hole is drilled front to back now! Question though, just because it doesn't show on the picture...how big is the entrance hole on the gourd itself?
PS: nice purchase!!!!! Wish someone around here were selling like that!

I cut out the front of the gourd to mirror the back side of the tunnel if that makes sense. Just left a little extra material along the sides and for the tabs to sit on and screw into. Then I’ll do a couple rounds of some heavy duty white caulk to hold it in place.
The SuperGourd was rounded and the S&K tunnel was square, but it set in nice once cut out. I’ll post up a couple more pictures while I do it. Trying to do a couple a night!

Perfect, well thought out! Its a nice entrance. Supergourds are unsung hero's, well made, tough, and martins love them. Recently purchased some gourds, one i swear was not as opaque as it looked, it lit up like a light bulb.
Your gourds are going to be popular.

Mr CC where can super gourds be bought?
Also, I’m contemplating buying 4 excluder gourds to attach to a trendsetter
Thank you

Hi LCM,
They have Supergourds in the PMCA store on this site.
https://www.purplemartin.org/shop/175/s ... cessories/
They are probably for sale on other sites also, haven’t looked. I try to support the PMCA whenever possible.

Hey, sorry for the delay. looks like your super gourd question has been answered; if you do decide to go the excluder gourd route (good gourds BTW), please remember to check the entrance size. some came almost half an inch too tight, a manufacturer defect that is plaguing gourd racks even now I'm sure. I had to adjust lots of gourd entrances, some just a tad, some a lot. 1 3/16 of an inch is what to measure for.

Thank you both for weighing in Tom and MY FYN and answering about the super gourds. I too support PMCA when I can too. Mr Tom that is extremely important information you have passed along regarding the opening.
