Scout report shows a purple dot in gun barrel Texas. 12.18.25...like the name though.

Yeah, I saw that yesterday… Seems too far north for a first Martin of the season, but you never know I guess… There is a video on the PMCA Facebook page and definitely an ASY male in the video anyway..
Maybe one of your birds got lost last season? lol
Merry Christmas everyone!

I can't imagine this is right. I tried to search his name to determine how long he's been a land lord, but couldn't find anything.

Like finding a dinosaur in Alaska. Yeah I dunno.
A small part of me wants to crank the gourds up and start looking, but there's another part of me is like my 30 year cop brother that says hmmmmmmm.
One edit: guy posted a video, Phil you mentioned a video and spot on. Yep male martin no kidding.
Hahah, Phil if so, I want him back!

Brent, yep. Found the video Phil mentioned, sure enough a male. Reading about it, folks don't think it migrated...no one really knows what to think. It doesn't have a good locator and may not hang around...prognosis isn't good weathers going to turn quick.

You would think he would be a posting member here on the forum. It would be nice if he would say Hi and clear this up.

I saw his post on some purple martin Facebook page. Seems legit. I saw another post (s) where a lady in Wisconsin (i think) had one that never migrated back south.

Makes you wonder WTF is going on. Imagine Wisconsin in winter! And Florida isn't on the map yet. Well these examples aren't early returns, they just never left.

Low IQ people exist. Low IQ dogs exist. Seems that low IQ martins exist also. The genetic instinct to migrate that occurs in all Martins didn't occur in this one. He doesn't know any better. He will surely pay the price, most likely. Natural selection, survival of the fittest, will eventually take place in this situation.

Yea, I was thinking he was probably pecked in the head by a sparrow when he was in the nest and his mama saved him before it was too late.Bird Brain wrote: ↑Wed Dec 31, 2025 12:33 pmLow IQ people exist.
