Out of respect, I waited a while before posting this report. My colony is a little over a mile downstream from downtown Kerrville. The poles are slightly more than 100 yards from the Guadalupe River. This is year 10 for this colony. It is located behind an Assisted Living Center.
I live about 4 miles from the colony. After the flood, on the way over to see if the gourds had been washed away, a lot went through my mind. However, since I had not heard of the residents being evacuated from the center, I was optimistic.
What I found was that everything was unaffected. The side of the river where the poles are was a little higher than the opposite side of the river and the channel is wider in that area. Four days earlier, my nest check showed 23 gourds fully fledged and one gourd left with 4 young still being fed.
24 pair raised 106 young this year. Since 2020, only two gourds were not nested in (142 of 144). This site is martin heaven due to its openness and being close to the river.

6 fledges.
2021: 9 pair, 47 eggs
36 hatchlings
30 fledged
2022: about 12 pairs.. many eggs, all fledged.. only had one hatchling die.. probably because of our schnauzer. :(
2023: 16 pairs. So far about 60 chicks with about a dozen eggs to go.
2024: 13 pair. About 60 eggs
2025: 14 pairs .. 69 eggs.
Good to know. Glad to see you had a great year with the martins.
