After 16 years of using baffles on my poles I switched this year to using a solar electric fence and hot wires on my six poles. Last year I had for the first time two breaches on separate poles on the same night, a six foot and a four and a half foot black rat snakes. I decided to switch to solar system that with one grounding rod produces around 2500 volts. The makers of the charger said 2000 volts would stop snakes and raccoons. You fence charger users, is that enough volts? It gets my attention real quick. The fence meter says 2500-2700 volts but I don't know how accurate a 35 dollar meter is. What do you think? thanks

I think you’re fine volt wise. You may want to spray down the area surrounding the poles and the ground rod with a hose to keep the ground moist if you’re in a dry area or it hasn’t rained in a while.
I have guards on my 5 poles but want to implement the electric at some point. I have also used glue traps as a second defense but they don’t last in the weather.
