I’ve seen a few passing by but none have stayed. Check with a few other landlords in the area and they have said the same. Colonies that use to be full are nil of way down.

Any others in Florida having smaller numbers?

Wondered what’s going on. Any ideas or reasons?

Concerned FL landlord!

Martin Colony History: - First 24 compartment colony built in 1996 in Awendaw, SC.
- Just replaced a 32 compartment colony built in 2013.
- New 2022 colony has 40 compartments, made entirely of 1/2" PVC-Board.

Ours have not arrived yet (Summerton SC, 40 compartments), they have usually been here by the first week of March. I opened up the house late Feb. and have had woodpecker attacks trying to enlarge the openings, so very frustrating. Have seen a few flying around, so hope they show up soon! One curious discovery this year is finches have a somewhat similar call/chatter at times.

I’m on the east coast but my numbers are up. Getting very close to capacity and the wave of SY’s just started.
Good luck this season!

Finally we’ve got an SYmale. He’s working hard to get a mate. 🤞

It’s been a crazy year here near Sun City Center. Numbers are way down. Colonies that use to be filled are way down. Numbers seem to be showing up now.

Wondering if there were issues in South America?

Weird. Florida is the one place where I think that the numbers would always be good! Mine are on par in SWLA.

That is one magnificent Martin house!
Also the fishing rod perches - very cool touch!

Martin Colony History: 2020: 2 pair of SY with 4 eggs ,fledge 7
2021: 5 pair 25 eggs fledge 18, 4 egg 2nd brood attempt
2022: 13 pair 61 eggs fledge 56 added 11 cavs. now 22 total
2023 15 pair 75 eggs fledge 51 only 3 of 11 eggs hatched cavity 10
2024 11 pair 50 eggs fledge
26. 1 renest cav1, cav10 8 eggs 8 fledged 2 couples ASY and Sy

I am about the same now as I was last 2 years. 7 ASY couples, all have 5 or 6 eggs. My #1 couple last 2 days now have pinkies. No SY yet, but I think
that is what the ASY want. My 2ND house had all SY which never really had the fledge percentage as the ASY. I would like to see at least 1 SY couple
in my house.for the future. 8)

My numbers are good in Florida but I have noticed they are behind schedule. Last year I had chicks the first week of April. As of today I am still waiting on eggs to hatch.
