1/30, 12:40 pm, 73 degrees, cloudy, breezy.. I was outside playing ball with my German Shepard, heard the unmistakable chirp.. looked up, there she was, coming out of the clouds.. chirping and circling lower and lower and landed.. seemed like she was very happy to be home..seemed just as happy to see me as I was to see her.. lol.. ..she looked strong and fresh.. amazing after flying 6000 miles.. preened herself awhile, checked out compartments and went in #8.. always fun, when you happen to be outside, when the first one comes flying in! Arrival was 2 days earlier than last year.. season 27 starts!

That’s great Rob. My first arrived yesterday morning, an ASY male. Then in the evening he showed up with a beautiful female. Both here again today. Like you, mine are 2 days early too. Going to open up a couple more compartments tomorrow. Expecting a full house soon! Good luck with a great season!! Brent

Good luck to y’all too! Agree… I dont remember ever having a female as my first arrival… always a male.. so this is different! But she looked great… yep, I think they’ll be flowing in now… next 7 days are going to be great weather…

That's awesome! Still waiting on my first. Shouldn't be long here in SWLA. If they tend to return to the same cavity each year, how do you know which ones to open up first especially if you are trying to keep the HOSPS out?

That’s GREAT news! I’ve had a similar experience a few years ago. I was outside checking my houses for any arrivals. Lowered houses but no activity. Said to my wife “I wonder where our scout is”? She pointed to the sky and said “could that be him”? I was thinking she was making a joke to tease me. But sure enough I looked up and there he was making his circle around the home site.
