The majority of our birds came in early this season and immediately got to work. Out of our 16 compartments, we've got approximately 50% occupancy, with each clutch being around 5-6 eggs. So far, so good, only had three eggs fail to hatch, and one nestling die. All others are fit and noisy!
I've had to stop nest checks due to their age now. Most of the compartments on my log book got marked "DND" for Do Not Disturb for yesterday's nest check.
But here's the interesting thing: one compartment, which originally had a nest but no eggs, now sports 5 little white PM eggs. My guess is a new and inexperienced pair, or perhaps one of the original pair that had built the nest was lost (lots of hawks and owls around here). Whatever the cause, it looks like I'll be resuming nest checks in a few weeks.
Hope the rain keeps up!

Thats a good report! Sounds to me like things are going great, even if the rain let's up it will carry them through. While late nests generate some worry, sounds to me like all is well in hand.
Just when you thought you were off the nest check hook! Lol.
Pays to check, always surprises. Hope your good streak continues for many years,
Tom
