This morning I woke up to three Martins two males and one female checking out my houses. After I removed the blocks in the houses and gourds they spent an hour or so going in and out of the rooms.Late this evening they returned and settled in in for the night.
Last summer I noticed that Martins avoided one of my houses and I’m assuming that it was due to the proximity to my neighbor’s overgrown Crape Myrtles. This winter, I repositioned that house to my side yard where there are no shrubs and the nearest tree is approximately 200 feet away . I’m optimistic that with these changes I’ll have more tenets.
Hope everyone has a successful season,
New season started in North Mississippi today
