I heard one over my house yesterday 12-23-12 in Plant City Fl. Never saw it but definitely heard one. I noticed some one close to me reported one, might have been the same one as we are close.

With cold weather still ahead I guess everyone will be putting out the eggs and crickets.

Way early, was a bit skeptical at first but the way PMCA said it was validated seemed positive, now with Steve saying he heard one no doubt.
Yes, im with Brent and lots of others cold days ahead to plan for and worry about BUT they are here.
Merry Christmas!

Martin Colony History: Started off with no martins. Years later, I got a few martins. Now, I get more martins than you can shake a stick at.

I see it's time for my annual weather forecast.
The wind gonna blow from the South, and help them martins out. Then the wind gonna blow from the North, and hold them martins back. Then a South wind gonna come and push them martins up. Then that North wind gonna push them martins back again. On and On and on till the martins show up same time as last year.

Ordering crickets soon. Last year they showed February 12th. I want to be ready if that north wind blows. Thawing out of a deep freeze as I write. I am not fond of cold weather. Brent

Happy to see the chat board becoming active again. Martin Bro's post above made me chuckle/smile as it immediately reminded me of the classic Bugs Bunny and Elmer Fudd "I killed the wabbit" opera. Good stuff. Merry Christmas.

Looks like they are stopping in Florida waiting for the warmer weather. I'm really in no hurry to see them (for now). We still have cold weather in the forecast, and I don't want them to get here in that after their long trip.

Feb 20th my rack goes up then I have to wait 30-45 days the last 2 seasons and shoot HOSP's and a few Starlings to pass the time...hoping for March 20th this year and improve by 2 weeks.

Good plan, about the same here, end of feb should have everything up. Hurry up and wait! Best to do it a bit early anyway.
Will have to set up the trio trap houses in a week or so for those inquisitive sparrows.
Already the starlings beaks have changed to yellow, legs are getting redder, looks like their plumage has filled out. They are snooping around the nest boxes, caught one in the front yard and one in back same hour.
Ah Martin season!!!!!!!
