Hi Steve r,
The PMCA Scout Arrival reporting site is a test of human observation and reporting skill. It merely tracks how many humans actually notice a Purple Martin and whether they decide to report it.
Humans are not terribly observant.
I am pretty sure the Purple Martins are where they are supposed to be and in the numbers they usually are regardless of what is being reported on this website.
I expect my Martins to show in February like they always do.
Hope you have a great season and Happy New Year!

I heard one over a week ago but do not report till I see one. Been looking every day and have not seen one. The second report on the scout report is only 2 miles from my colony. They reported the same day I heard one so I think that might have been the one I heard.

This is also part of the issue with some the reports. Everyone does it their own way, not saying one way or the other is wrong. (Unless the PMCA will post specifically what they want). I know lots of people on here who have said they don't post a report until "their" martins are back at "their property. I look at it as a system to monitor the migration, so if I confirm a martin has been in my area (if it is from my colony, or just passing through) I report it, because they have made it this far north.steve r wrote: ↑Sat Dec 31, 2022 4:19 pmI heard one over a week ago but do not report till I see one. Hello to you Martin Folks,
Observed and posted on the arrival site 4 birds checking into at my 3 rack hotel here this morning in Palm City, FL. Funny how the thrill never wears off even beginning my 6th year as a Landlord. They circled, landed, checked out the gourds and departed to catch bugs. Watched 4 come in this afternoon at 4:50.
Hope to see additional residents at my 72-gourd arrangement in the next few days.
Happy Martining, Mike
