Need tips on using the Haskel Trap ???

I am trying to trap a pesky Starling using the Haskel Trap in a Troyer Horizontal Gourd. I remember having trouble placing the wire previously. I find it very difficult to place the wire using one hand inside and one hand outside the gourd. Try as I may I can't find the hole to insert the wire by just feeling around inside the tunnel. I am wondering if anyone has any tips on making it easier to do. I find it nearly impossible. I tried again this morning and finally gave up.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I have one, never used it but perhaps insert the wire from the outside find where it pokes in with your finger, hold that spot, switch and insert it the right way?

Horizontal gourds are a nightmare setting the trap. I generally hold the wire alongside my index finger and find the hole with the tip of my finger and then move the wire into place. Luckily at my place the HS seem to like the vertical gourds.
