Hello All
Have this question. Martin birds that are late arriving home.
Is this brought on by Distant to travel home. Or the food chain on there way home.
For me I had 7 then jumped up to 24.. My better half said they will be here the last of April. [ Later

From the studies done it appears that birds that nest farther North start migrating later then southern nesting birds. Once they go they cover ground pretty quickly but bad weather can clearly slow them down.

Hello
Still interested [ Later
Many migrating Martins spend a day or two with our Martins feeding on insects here at the lake before continuing their migration north.
So I would say food availability and weather.
