Bummed in Ohio

Hey everyone,
I've been waiting for my birds to return and many of the landlords within a few miles have had their birds return, or at least a few and I havn't seen the first bird land.
This is my fourth year and last year I only had 3 pairs (Ohio weather last year was horrible and some perished) but they were all successful in fledging 17 eggs. I know 3 pair isn't a bunch, but i did expect them or some of the visitors to return an that hasn"t happened yet.
Ive been playing the dawnsong all day since about April 1 but nothing!
Do some ASY still show up this late or am i starting over again?

My first and 2nd year I had only 1 pair, the third year 3 pair, the 4th year my first one didn't get back till April 26th. That year I ended up with 18 pair, I think you'll still get them, I remember feeling the same way you do. Im in alliance Ohio

The majority of the ASY's in my area have not returned yet. I had over 45 pair last year and right now I only have about 12 martins back. So you have plenty of time for ASY's to return. I'm in Indiana so we are in the same general area.

I read a study on here years ago that said you statistically you need to have 6 pair before you are assured to have at least some of them return. Obviously nothing is guaranteed when dealing with mother nature, but on average 6 pair is that threshold. Hopefully at least a few of yours from last year make it back but the death rate can be high from one year to the next, it's a long trip back and forth, with plenty of things in between that can take them out as well.
