I am adding my 2nd Super System 24 gourd rack.
Need some input on where I should place it in relation to my other rack and Martin house.
If I go to the left it would be at edge of garden. I can go between set back or to the right. How far minimum can I go from other rack and house?

- Martin Colony History: 2017 Had a lot visitors no Matins nesting, hoping 2018 will be different.

2019 had 30 pair
From looking at you pic. I would go to left or just straight down the hill from the other pole about 20 feet. It is ok to be near the Garden.

The martins won't care how close or far it is from your other rack. Give yourself enough space to get mowers ets. in between them or where you can see them and access them best.

I had a gourd rack and house that was 25' from each other. In watching the Martins, they liked to bounce back and forth from the two. I felt that they would have liked it better if they were closer, so when I added another gourd rack this year I reconfigured. I will have a diamond shape with 2 gourd racks, a house and a perch antenna. Around the perimeter of the triangle, they will be 16' apart. My birds aren't back yet, so I'm not sure this will make any difference, but I feel they will like it better. Time will tell.

I don’t believe that there’s a concrete rule as to how far apart you need to place your pole systems. Like flyin-lowe said just make it so you can mow easily around your poles and that you can access your individual gourd’s. I have 7 systems and they’re all 15 feet apart. I don’t think your Bird’s would care if they were right next to each other. But you need to place them were you can adequately do proper Nest Checks etc.
I have friends that have pole systems right in the middle of their gardens and it doesn’t seem to bother the Martin’s at all.
