We've have purple martin houses here in Perryville, MO, for eleven years now, and they usually first arrive in late March. Last year, they came in the middle of March, which was the earliest we've ever seen them. And now, today, March 8, we saw our first two on one of our houses----we can't believe they're here this early!
Has anybody else been getting them earlier than usual this year?
Martins here already!
Hi. I did in Louisiana. Right now my houses are all full and have been since mid February. Last year I only had a pair at that point. Happy they're here. The cold weather is over (I hope anyway.) for us this far south. Don't know the reason. It will be interesting to see if they start nest building earlier than last year.

If you haven't used the scout map yet you can find it under the research tab at the top of the page, then scroll down to scout arrival study. You can see the people who already have scouts in MO and when you click on their name it will show you all of their previous year scout reports. Should give you a good idea of how far ahead they are running for others in your area.
